Coaching Blog S1 Episode 25 - coaching session with Chelsea - Understanding Airbnb's Guest Service Fee and Host Payouts: MASTERCLASS Explained

The conversation is about the guest service fee charged by Airbnb. The fee is not something the host has to pay, but rather something the guest pays. The host sets the price per night, and on top of that, Airbnb adds a guest service fee. The total amount paid by the guest is $3,437, and the host receives $2,876. Airbnb charges both the host and the guest a fee, with the host paying $17 and the guest paying $462. This fee covers the Airbnb platform, profit margin, and other expenses.

The user also asks about the responsibilities of a cleaner or laundromat when hosting on Airbnb. The cleaner would typically make the beds, but if the host lives nearby, they can choose to do it themselves and charge a cleaning fee.

The user asks if taxes are automatically deducted before each payout. There are no taxes deducted, and the screenshot shown earlier represents the total amount the host receives.

The user also asks where they can see the average rates for a night. They can check on Airbnb or use other websites like AirDNA or Wheelhouse to get information about rates in their local area.

Finally, the user asks about the guest service fee and where that money goes. The guest service fee goes directly to Airbnb.
